I was having what I thought was a normal pregnancy, at around 10 weeks pregnant I started suffering from sciatica. After having a scan I was told there wasn’t enough amniotic fluid around the baby. The hospital kept a close eye on me, at 22 weeks gestation I had to go for a special scan to check my baby’s internal organs. Afterwards I was ushered into a room to be told my baby was being kept alive by my body, he had no kidneys and my own life was in danger. That was the second worst day of my life, a few days later I had a termination for abnormalities. I have a chromosome rearrangement and I had passed the gene on to my little boy. I went through a live birth, full contractions and went through hell! Afterwards I went for lots of investigations to discover my genetic problem. I have now 2 healthy boys by IVF (donor eggs) and I thank God every day for being blessed with my sons.
